The 3 golden rules for good copywriting

I know you want your ads to be as PROFITABLE as possible.

That’s why we’re constantly optimizing our ads.

Now, let me tell you something:

If you want to improve the ROI on your ads, there’s only 2 things you can do:

  1. Increase the conversion rate (get more people who clicked your ad to convert)
  2. Increase the click rate (get more people who see your ad to click it)

There’s 100+ little things that can all have minimal effects on those 2 KPI’s.

Like a more attractive image, more contrasting colors, a different placement etc.

But there’s 1 thing that has HUGE effects on both the click rate and the conversion rate.

What is that?

It’s copy.

Copywriting, I mean.

Because if you write good copy, you get:

  • more clicks
  • more conversions
  • more leads

“Good copy = More conversions”

So what’s the issue here?

Well, the problem is: You’re not writing great copy…

Why?

Because there’s very few good teachers who will teach you this stuff.

Some of us go out and learn copywriting on our own.

But it takes YEARS to get even a little good.

But I won’t have it any longer!

Learning how to write good copy shouldn’t be so hard!

“Learning copywriting should be EASY and FUN.”

BTW, you DO know it’s proven that you learn BETTER when you’re having fun, right?

So today, I want to teach you 3 golden rules you need to OBEY with your copywriting.

And I’ll make the learning proces smooth, easy and fun for ya!

You see, I am a bit of a weirdo and I’ve spent the last decade studying and experimenting with copywriting on:

  • FB ads, LinkedIn ads
  • Landing pages
  • Emails
  • E-commerce product descriptions
  • Lead generation forms
  • And more…

Applying proven psychological frameworks and mixing it with new creative ideas has led my clients to get:

  • Over 15% CTR on non-branded Gooogle Search ads
  • Over 9% Conversion rates on lead forms to cold traffic
  • Over 40% Email open rates by using smart subject lines

I want you to get better at writing your copy.

So your ads get more clicks. And you convert more people.

So, let’s get into it:

Good copy needs to be 3 things

Copy is only good copy when it’s:

  1. Easy to read (The text reads smoothly and I can scan to get the main points)
  2. Crystal clear (I understand exactly what the message is and why it matters to me)
  3. Persuasive (It inspires me to do the thing you ask me in your copy)

[USE CASE] Good copywriting gone wrong in corporate email

I’ve decided to make a quick video to show you an example of what NOT to do.

In this case, it’s not even a sales page or an ad.

It’s a CORPORATE email.

But the lessons are JUST as valuable.

Because copy is copy, no matter where you read it.

In an email, in an ad, on a blog or on a sales page.

So in this email, you will find both GOOD and BAD copywriting, mixed together.

But the sender made 1 critical mistake that ruined the whole message.

So check out this 4min video so you can avoid this pitfall yourself:

Cool! Ok?
You’re still with me?
I promised I would add a screenshot of how I would rewrite this email myself.

How I would rewrite this maternity leave email

Remembering the 3 rules of copywriting:
It needs to be:

  1. Easy to read
  2. Crystal clear
  3. Persuasive

Here’s how I would re-write the above email:

See what I did there?
Yes?
>Maybe?
A little?
Would it be better if you could see EXACTLY how I came up with this instead of just seeing the end result?
Yes?
Well… I’ve got your back ☺️

[USE CASE] Teardown of new maternity leave email

Check out this quick 4min video to see where and how I implemented the 3 rules of good copy in this new email:

Alright!
Awesome that you made it all the way down here!
That’s all I’ve got for now, though
But before I let you go, let me recap what we learned real quick:

Recap (and TL;DR)

The 1 takeaway is this…

And make sure you write this down otherwise you just wasted all this time on this blog for something you won’t use or implement ever in your marketing…

Please DO use it, because writing GOOD COPY will:

  • Increase the amount of clicks you get.
  • And it will increase the amount of leads you convert.

So, remember this:

Good copy obeys 3 rules:

  1. It’s easy to read
  2. It’s crystal clear
  3. It’s persuasive

OK?

That’s it.

Learn from it. Steal it. Profit from it.

I’m out.

Valeu. Obrigado. Namasté. Gratidão 🙏🏼
